YouTube Space Lab global winners announced

The young winners of the YouTube Space Lab global science and engineering competition have been announced at a special awards ceremony in Washington DC.

The Space Lab project, co-designed by Imperative Space, set a global challenge to students and young people all over the world in 2011, to design scientific experiments to be built and flown to the International Space Station and conducted on board by astronauts on the orbital platform.

The winners and a group of other finalists were awarded a range of prizes which included an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington DC, a visit to the Capitol and meetings with leading politicians, and parabolic flights to experience low and zero gravity. The winning experiments will be flown to the ISS in the summer 2012.
