Live video production and content oversight for spectacular Tim Peake launch event

Imperative Space has overseen production of the live video content and provided additional material for the Science Museum's all day public event to celebrate the launch to the ISS of first British-ESA astronaut Tim Peake.

Major Tim Peake, the first British astronaut to visit the ISS and the first British member of the ESA astronaut corps, was given a rousing send off at a special event at the Science Museum, London. The spectacular all day event transformed the historic London landmark, and was attended by three generations of astronauts, VIPs from across the UK space industry, senior politicians, over 2000 school children and thousands of members of the public. The BBC’s Stargazing Live programme also broadcast two special editions from the museum for both the launch and docking of the Soyuz.

The event’s special guests included Alexi Leonov, Chris Hadfield, ESA’s Andreas Mogensen, first British citizen in space Helen Sharman, UK science minister Jo Johnson, and physicist and TV science presenter Helen Czerski.

Imperative Space worked closely with event teams from the Science Museum and UK Space Agency, and with the BBC's production team.
